Petitions to the Governor concerning the organization of militias in various Nebraska counties for protection against what is described as Indian raids. Often the petitions include the name of the company and list the names of officers and soldiers. Some petitions ask for supplies and funds, or they describe the weapons the counties already have available, such as Spencer carbines.
